Antique 19th Century Pewter 1/4 Gill Measure - Rustic 4.5cm Victorian Spirit Tot

£16.00

The Story:
This diminutive pot-bellied "1/4 gill" measure, is a wonderful survivor from a 19th-century British tavern. Standing at just 4.5cm, this 'noggin' was designed for the precise pouring of spirits or fortified wines. Its heavy-bellied form and thick-cast handle are classic hallmarks of Victorian pewter smithing. Today, we think it’s the perfect size for a single "micro-bouquet." A single dried flower head or a tiny sprig of foliage looks charming poking out of the top.

The Details:
• Capacity: 1/4 Gill (approx. 35ml).
• Material: Heavy-gauge Antique Pewter.
• Era: 19th Century (Victorian).
• Dimensions: 4.5cm H x 6cm W at widest point
• Style: Tavern-ware / Barware.

Condition:
Good Antique Condition - (Rustic/Primitive). The piece retains a fantastic, deep "gunmetal" grey patina that has developed over a century of oxidation. It has not been polished, preserving its historical integrity. The rim shows some minor "dints" and irregularities consistent with a working vessel used in a busy tavern environment. The interior shows heavy darkening and mineral buildup from age; it is sold as a decorative object and is not recommended for modern food or drink use.
