Antique Indonesian Copper Batik 'Tjap' Stamps
These intricate copper blocks, known as Tjaps, originate from Indonesia and were traditionally used in the Batik printing process to apply hot wax to fabric. Dating to the early 20th century (c. 1900–1920), they are remarkable examples of artisan craftsmanship. Each block is handmade from narrow strips of heat-conductive copper and copper wire, shaped into complex geometric or organic patterns.
Versatility & Use: While originally meant for textile work, these stamps are highly prized today for display as decorative items, and are still fully functional for printing on fabric, or for creating impressions in clay, polymer, and fibre art
Era: Circa 1900–1920.
Material: Fine copper pattern work with non-copper metal handles.
Available Designs (Priced Individually):
Medium Flower
Large Quad Floral
Large Bird
Condition: Wonderful antique condition. They show authentic signs of age, including rust and wear on the metal handles which adds to their historic character.
Price: From £45.00 each.
Conscious Packaging: 100% plastic-free, recyclable, and biodegradable.
Complimentary Delivery: Dispatched via Royal Mail Tracked 48.
