These superb antique dinner plates are a classic example of late Victorian/early Edwardian Chinoiserie. The "Real Old Canton" pattern is an English interpretation of an 18th-century Chinese design, featuring an intricate oriental scene in a rich cobalt blue. G.L. Ashworth Brothers (founded in 1862) were renowned earthenware and ironstone specialists who famously acquired the patterns and molds of Mason's Patent Ironstone, continuing the legacy of high-quality British "Flow Blue" inspired pottery.
