Rare Large Edwardian Banded Ironstone Water or Milk Jug

£75.00

This splendid utilitarian early 20th century Ironstone water jug, comes in a soft off-white colour with simple incised banding. Its simplicity, is as appealing for today's 'modern' kitchen, as it was back then, use for water, milk or flowers, or as part of a farmhouse dresser display.

We adore its clean lines, especially given this design was very much part of everyday 19th and early 20th kitchen life.

Key Points:
• A large, banded Ironstone jug
• In a timeless soft white colour way
• Accentuated by simple incised bands to its body
• Classic shaped handle and wide pouting spout
• Likely of Staffordshire origin, certainly British

Good to know:
These particular Ironstone jugs are getting much harder to source, especially in such excellent condition throughout.

Year of manufacture:
1910s

Approximate Measurements:
H: 18.5cm (7") at tallest point
W: 15.5cm (6") diameter spout to handle
W: 11cm (4") diameter at base

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition throughout with minimal signs of wear and free from chips, nibbles or crazing. As with genuine Ironstone pieces of age, it does have a few minor discolouration spots to its spout, handle and base, though all adding to its charm.

Buyers Guide:
It is very important to note, that all the pieces Roof + Roof sell are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, manufacturing flaws and a general sense of their age and history are naturally to be expected. We always try, to the best of our ability to honestly and clearly communicate an items condition, both in our description and photography, highlighting anything over and above what we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear'. We kindly ask you look closely at all our photos, using the zoom facility, as these naturally form part of the item's description.

Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities. Any item/prop shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only. Prior to purchasing, if you would like further clarification on any item, then we are always happy to help in any way possible.
